VicoVitti

Aedicule which recalls the structure of the older ones in stone with a small image or statuette of local veneration probably built in more recent years. It houses the statuette of St. Anthony, in very bad condition.

Dedicated to Sant'Antonio di Padova, the devotional niche in vico Vitti, right next to the last wood-burning oven in Castellana, managed until several years ago by Vitantonio Lippolis (future Giuseppe). The feast in honor of the Saint was held until 1938-40, when the good baker distributed small loaves of bread to the poor of the town. In the 1877 plan, vico Vitti meant today's via Gerolamo Savonarola, and took its name from the Vitti family who lived right there. The current alley therefore recalls the primitive name of today's via Savonarola, which today connects the street of Caroseno (via Roma) with via Cesare Battisti and then with the street of the Town Hall (via Marconi).
