Corner of via Bovio and via Roma
Madonnina dei Tomacelli newsstand. More than a niche that defines a container structure, this Madonna is a crossroads saint in stone carved in the round who looks towards via Roma and the church of Caroseno.
At the corner between via Bovio and via Roma (formerly Caroseno), about 3 meters high, and on the left side, is the Madonnina commissioned by the Tomacelli family, who everyone remembers as former owners of the newspaper kiosk in piazza Garibaldi. At the base of the statue of the Immaculate Conception is the following inscription: “Missioni 1959 – Tomacelli”. Via Bovio was once called Strada Porta Nuova since, at the beginning of the eighteenth century, the last civic entrance gate to the town was opened, at the entrance to today's Piazza Garibaldi which, consequently, took the name of Largo Porta Nuova .
